Sam De Brouwer serves as a Senior Advisor to Claritas Athena Ventures. She is a seasoned entrepreneur and deep tech investor with a career spanning back to the early '90s.

In 2016, she co-founded doc.ai, a pioneering AI healthcare company in Palo Alto, where her leadership journey evolved from COO to CEO until its acquisition by Sharecare, which went public on the NYSE in 2021. As the Chief Strategy Officer at Sharecare, Sam continues to drive innovation in healthcare. Beyond her role at Sharecare, she lends her expertise as a board member to health tech startup Betternight, a frontrunner in sleep health solutions.

Sam's impactful career includes being part of the founding team of Scanadu (2012), now Healthy.io, a groundbreaking venture that developed the FDA-cleared 1-minute home-based smart urine test and the medical tricorder utilizing Machine Learning. Her dedication to advancing people-centric medical technologies led her to orchestrate one of the world's first remote and decentralized clinical studies in collaboration with Scripps Health.

Her entrepreneurial journey began in the '90s, contributing to the foundational TCP/IP protocols for internet infrastructure with Eunet. She transitioned to the application level, co-founding Jobscape, one of the first successful employment websites in Europe, later merging into Stepstone, a company that went public on the London Stock Exchange. Sam's commitment to innovation using blue-sky research led her to co-start Starlab, a European research lab delving into BANG (Bits, Atoms, Neurons, and Genes), that kickstarted her early experiences with the MIT Media Lab followed by One Laptop Per Child Foundation, where she served as Advocacy Director for the European branch, securing funding for laptops and training in over a dozen countries and for millions of children.

Sam received the Top Women in Cloud Award organized by Meta in 2019. Actively engaged in her community, she is also curating the new yearly TED AI Conference in San Francisco that she started in 2023, gathering the top leaders and thinkers in AI.
